Privacy Policy

Badgy is a browser extension and website for bulk downloading, printing, and saving Gmail attachments. This policy explains what data Badgy uses, why it is used, which service providers help operate the product, and how you can contact us about your data.

Our goal is simple: Badgy should process only the information needed to perform the action you request. Attachments are processed in your browser by default. They are sent to Google Drive only when you choose the Save to Drive feature.

What Badgy does not do

Information processed by the extension

Badgy runs on Gmail pages so it can add download, print, and Drive save controls to Gmail. When you select emails and start an action, Badgy may process information from the selected Gmail thread views, including attachment names, attachment download URLs, attachment content, selected row counts, thread identifiers, and operation status.

This information is used to download attachments, create ZIP files, merge printable PDFs, upload attachments to a Google Drive folder you choose, show progress, handle errors, and improve reliability.

Attachment content is handled locally in your browser for download and print flows. For Save to Drive, Badgy sends the attachment content to Google Drive using the access you grant through Google OAuth. Badgy does not upload attachment content to Badgy servers for normal download or print flows.

Account and purchase information

Some features use Google sign-in, Firebase, and Stripe. If you sign in or purchase Badgy Premium, Badgy may store your email address, display name, profile photo URL, Firebase user identifier, premium status, and timestamps needed to create or update your account.

Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Badgy receives Stripe webhook events so it can update your premium status in Firebase using your email address. Badgy does not store your full payment card details.

Analytics and diagnostics

Badgy uses analytics and diagnostics to understand whether core flows work, improve the product, and fix errors. Extension analytics may include events such as download started, download completed, print started, subscription prompt shown, review prompt state, selected row counts, error messages, extension version, language, login state, and premium state.

Badgy uses PostHog for product analytics and error diagnostics. When you are signed in, Badgy may associate PostHog events with your Firebase user identifier. PostHog session recording is disabled.

The website uses Google Analytics / Google Ads measurement and a server-side PostHog event endpoint for website and conversion analytics. These tools may process usage data such as page views, browser information, approximate location inferred from IP address, referral information, campaign information, timestamps, and device or browser identifiers.

Local browser storage

Badgy stores some data in Chrome extension storage on your device or browser profile. This may include settings such as ZIP download preference, counters such as free downloads or prints used, onboarding state, review prompt state, download totals, temporary ZIP data during a download, and locally generated identifiers for analytics or diagnostics.

Local extension storage is used to make the extension work and to avoid asking you the same questions repeatedly. You can remove this data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage in your browser.

Google Drive access

If you use Save to Drive, Badgy asks Google for the Drive access needed to create folders, list folders you choose from, and upload files that you selected from Gmail. Badgy uses Drive access only to perform the Drive action you request.

Files saved to Google Drive are stored by Google under your Google account. Your use of Google Drive is also governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.

Service providers

Badgy uses the following service providers to operate the extension and website:

How information is used

Data sharing and sale

Badgy does not sell your personal data. Badgy shares data with service providers only as needed to operate the extension, website, payments, analytics, diagnostics, authentication, Drive uploads, and support.

Badgy may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. If ownership changes, we will take reasonable steps to ensure this policy continues to apply or notify users of material changes.

Retention and deletion

Badgy keeps account, premium status, analytics, diagnostic, and payment-related records only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required for legal, tax, security, dispute-resolution, or fraud-prevention reasons.

You can request access to or deletion of personal data associated with your Badgy account by contacting us. Some payment, tax, security, or legal records may need to be retained after a deletion request.

Security

Badgy uses HTTPS and platform-provided browser extension APIs to protect data in transit and limit access to the pages and services needed for core features. No internet service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to limit data collection and use reputable service providers.

Children's privacy

Badgy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Badgy, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
